United Way of Hill County will invest $50,000 in nine nonprofit programs this year to improve youth opportunities, strengthen financial security and support the health of Hill County residents.
Funded through the generosity of donors during last fall's annual campaign, the grants will support programs expected to serve 4,424 people in the coming year. Through its broader community impact work, United Way's efforts touch the lives of everyone living in Hill County.
A volunteer allocations committee reviewed funding requests and recommended investments based on United Way's focus areas of helping children succeed, promoting financial stability and improving health outcomes.
Demand for funding continues to outpace available resources. This year, local nonprofits requested more than $138,000 in grants, citing rising operating costs, increased demand for services, and reductions in state, federal and foundation funding.
"Our community's generosity is what makes these investments possible," said United Way of Hill County Regional Director Danielle Golie. "Every gift helps strengthen local nonprofits and ensures thousands of Hill County residents have access to food, recovery services, safe housing, educational opportunities and other essential resources."
Throughout the grant review process, volunteers heard firsthand about the growing challenges facing local organizations.
"The organizations we fund are seeing more people turn to them for help while facing rising costs and fewer funding opportunities," Golie said. "Although we couldn't fund every request, these grants help sustain programs that are making a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals and families throughout Hill County."
The following organizations received 2026 Community Impact Grants:
- Feed My Sheep Community Soup Kitchen — $7,000 to provide nutritious lunches Monday through Saturday for community members experiencing food insecurity.
- Havre Community Food Bank — $7,000 to provide shelf-stable food through a choice-based shopping model that emphasizes dignity and respect.
- HELP Committee Prevention Theater Program — $2,000 to help youth ages 6-18 build emotional resilience, communication skills and self-confidence through creative theater activities.
- Havre Public School Backpack Program — $4,000 to provide weekend food for students who rely on school meals during the week.
- JCI Hi-Line Jaycees — $3,000 to support the Koats 4 Kids program and community efforts to collect winter clothing and food for local families.
- Dynamic Recovery — $5,000 to expand access to mental health and addiction recovery services for Hill County residents.
- Kyle's House Foundation — $5,000 to provide structured, substance-free recovery housing for individuals rebuilding their lives after addiction.
- The Salvation Army Reintegration Into Society Program — $11,000 to support sober living services that help participants achieve long-term recovery and independence.
- Victim Services — $6,000 to provide shelter, safety planning, protective order assistance and support services for victims of crime and domestic violence.
