CASCADE COUNTY AWARDED EMERGENCY FOOD AND SHELTER FUNDS

Cascade County will receive $21,536 to supplement emergency food and shelter programs in the county through the Department of Homeland Security/Federal Emergency Management Agency.

Cascade County organizations that provide emergency food and shelter are encouraged to apply for funding under this program.

To receive funds local agencies must: 1) be private voluntary nonprofits or units of government, 2) be eligible to receive federal funds, 3) have an accounting system, 4) practice nondiscrimination, 5) have demonstrated the capability to deliver emergency food and/or shelter programs, and 6) if they are a private organization, they must have a volunteer board. Qualifying agencies are urged to apply.

The local board made up of representatives from the American Red Cross, Opportunities Inc., Salvation Army, United Way of Cascade County and faith-based organizations will make funding decisions. United Way President Gary Owen oversees the board.
