UNITED WAY INVITES AREA NONPROFITS TO APPLY FOR FUNDING

United Way of Cascade County invites local nonprofits that are working to help youth succeed by focusing on education outcomes, help working families/individuals become more financially stable and make Cascade County healthier to apply for funding.
Any Cascade County nonprofit is eligible to apply for funds. The application for funding asks groups to explain their goals, activities planned to accomplish their goals, metrics they will use to determine their success and a detailed budget for the activities for which they are requesting funding.  
United Way recruits community volunteers to review the applications, listen to presentations and determine which nonprofits' proposals will get the best results and best align with our organizational goals. United Way's organizational goals include: 

EDUCATION: helping children and youth achieve their potential. United Way aims for every student to graduate from high school ready for college or the workforce. To accomplish this goal, United Way is focusing on preparing young children to start school, ensuring that elementary students can read proficiently and reducing chronic absenteeism. 

INCOME: promoting financial stability and independence. United Way is working to help families become financially stable and independent by focusing on decreasing the number of people in poverty, meeting basic needs, increasing higher paying jobs and increasing the rate of home ownership. 

HEALTH: improving people’s health. United Way's health goals focus on helping children and adults maintain a healthy weight, reducing substance abuse, increasing the access and affordability of healthcare and protecting vulnerable populations including the elderly, disabled and abused and neglected children. 

 The volunteers also will review reports from the nonprofits on their progress. All nonprofits that receive funds must submit reports documenting their outcomes. 
To receive funds, agencies must qualify as tax exempt under federal law, be licensed by the state of Montana, meet certain financial reporting requirements and cannot discriminate because of race, color, religion, sex, age, marital status, national origin, political affiliation or disability. Government agencies and faith-based organizations can apply for funds if they meet United Way's policy requirements.
For the current fiscal year, United Way of Cascade County partners with 26 local nonprofits to fund 30 programs.

KEY DATES - 2024 Application deadline has passed

March 5, 9-11 a.m.: Required training for grant applicants at Montana Credit Union, 15 14th St. S. 

April 1, 5 p.m.: Application deadline. Grant applications must be emailed to go@uwccmt.org.

May 7 or May 8: Applicants will present to grant committee volunteers for 30 minutes. Presentations will be at Montana Credit Union, 15 14th St. S.

May 22: Applicants will be notified of funding decisions.

July 1: Grant disbursement begins.

Reporting dates will be shared upon receiving grants.
