Great Falls Area Combined Federal Campaign
Starting Feb. 27, United Way of Cascade County will begin accepting applications from human health and welfare organizations wanting to participate in the fall 2012 Great Falls Area Combined Federal Campaign.
The Combined Federal Campaign is the only authorized charitable fundraising campaign for federal employees. It began in 1961 as a result of an executive order signed by President John F. Kennedy. In 2011, federal employees in the Great Falls area donated more than $166,000 to local, national and international nonprofits.
Each fall, federal employees are given a form with a list of nonprofits that they can choose from to designate charitable donations given through their workplace. To be included on the list, nonprofits need to apply and meet eligibility requirements each year.
The deadline to apply is 5 p.m., Monday, April 2. All applicants must be recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as tax-exempt under 26 U.S.C. 501 (c) 3. Applications may be dropped off at the United Way office, at 417 Central Avenue, Suite 320, or mailed to: Combined Federal Campaign, PO Box 1343, Great Falls, MT 59403.
The local Federal Coordinating Committee includes: Montana Air National Guard Major Rick Anderson; Dave Cunningham, of the National Forest Service; Nancy Donovan, of the U.S. Postal Service; and Malmstrom Air Force Base Master Sergeant Jason Halvari.
